Nel 1526, l&#8217;imperatore   <\/span><b>Carlo V<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  decise di costruire un palazzo all&#8217;interno del recinto per stabilire la sua residenza in citt\u00e0. A tal fine, commission\u00f2 il progetto all&#8217;architetto   <\/span><b>Pedro Machuca<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">che aveva studiato in Italia e aveva portato con s\u00e9 le influenze del Rinascimento.<\/span><\/p><h3><b>Il progetto incompiuto<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La costruzione inizi\u00f2 nel <\/span><b>1527<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ma a causa di varie circostanze politiche ed economiche, non fu mai completamente completato. Per secoli l&#8217;edificio rimase senza tetto, fino a quando nel XX secolo vennero effettuati dei lavori di restauro per completarlo.
